FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect in the first session?

During the first session, we will talk for about 50 minutes. I can ask a lot of questions, or I can mostly listen depending on what feels best for you. Either way, my job will be to help you feel as comfortable as possible, while defining what your needs and goals are. At the end of the session I will let you know what direction I think would be most beneficial for your care. Your job will be to pay attention to how you are feeling in the session, and to consider whether working with me feels like the right choice for you. You will have a chance at the end of the session to consider whether you’d like to schedule the next meeting, or take some time to think about how the session felt for you before moving forward.

Do you take insurance?

I do not take insurance. There are many advantages to keeping your treatment separate from insurance, which include a higher level of confidentiality when records cannot be accessed by your insurance company, less need for a diagnostic label permanently attached to your health record, and care dictated not by the insurance company but rather by you and your provider based on your own needs. If your plan offers out-of-network benefits they may reimburse you for our work together and if so I can provide paperwork to submit for reimbursement. In that case, a diagnostic label would be required by your insurance company, who may also ask for your clinical records from time to time.

What are your session rates?

Sessions are $200 per session. Sliding scale is often available on a case by case basis.

Where are you located?

My practice is based in Portland, Oregon. I am able to see clients in Oregon, as well as in New York, Vermont and Colorado where I also hold licenses.
